Cozy up!

It is cooling down, so cozy up. The school year is well underway, and Halloween has come and gone. The air has changed and there is a shift...suddenly we are thinking of soft sweaters, cozy evenings by the fire, and the comforts of home.

This can inspire ideas of home improvements. Seeking a comfortable place to gather and spend time together, or relaxing in a bedroom where you can seek refuge after the end of a long day.

Not sure where to start? A fresh space can revitalize you, and be a fun and rewarding process, but it should start with a cohesive plan.

Consider hiring a professional. A designer can help guide you through a redecorating project or a renovation by bringing your vision to life and keeping the project on track. They can also help you decide where to spend and where to save, and how it impacts the overall look and potential value of your home.

Make a budget. Remember, budgets don’t define the style, they simply define where to shop. Having a specific number or a range in mind helps ensure everyone is on the same page.

Prioritize. Decide what areas are the most important to you and your family. Think about how you live, and be honest with yourself, then take stock of what pieces you want to keep vs. replace. Have an antique or heirloom you want to incorporate? Share this, and any other pictures or ideas you have with your designer.

Creating the perfect plan. Your designer will create a properly scaled floorplan of your space showing you the best layout for your needs. This includes perfectly scaled furniture pieces, and where to best locate lighting and art.

Trust the process. Your designer will create a cohesive colour scheme, make furniture recommendations that work with your style and budget, and will combine the elements of your wish list. Designers have the ability to conceptualize and have access to an abundance of retailers, custom shops, and artisans that they can pull from to create a perfectly curated space.

Are we there yet? Good design takes time, and many furniture pieces have lead times of 8 weeks or more, so it is important to factor this into the timeline. Your designer will continue to check in to ensure every order, finish, and delivery is right. They will make sure every piece of furniture is perfectly placed, will arrange the accessories, and fluff the pillows.

We’ve arrived! Now that everything has been delivered and installed, all you have to do is enjoy your new space!
